Schweitzer Announces New Employee Housing Project in Ponderay

Schweitzer, Idaho is amongst a growing list of ski resorts across North America that are investing millions of dollars into employee housing initiatives.

Resort employees are feeling the pinch of the ludicrous housing market that’s been taken over by short-term housing rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo. In response, there’s been a growing movement to have resorts provide housing, and some are listening.

Schweitzer took to social media to announce that they recently broke ground on their $22 million housing project in Ponderay, ID. It is expected to be completed by Summer of 2023.

Here are details from Schweitzer’s press release about the development:

“The first phase of the project will see 84 pet-friendly one, two, and three bedroom units, featuring full kitchens, washers and dryers, and access to bike and ski storage.

The $22 million housing development, a partnership with Eastmark Capital Group, is located near the intersection of Schweitzer Plaza Drive and Triangle Drive in Ponderay and expected to be completed by summer 2023.”

I will always share news of resorts investing in employee housing.

It’s basically impossible for resorts employees to live in resort towns nowadays, and I want to encourage more resorts to follow the lead of places like Schweitzer.

Kudos to Schweitzer!
