It’s June 30th, 2022 and the upper elevations of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (BC, Canada) are still buried in “feet” of snow.

The resort posted to Instagram yesterday showing crews attempting to dig out their Via Ferrata route, but it looks like it’s going to be a while before it’s able to open.

Take a look!

“A high snowfall winter and a seasonally cold spring have got our Via Ferrata team digging away in the alpine, searching for the course 👀

Although temps have warmed up, much of the Via Ferrata is still buried under a couple of feet of snow! The team is working hard to shovel the snow and hopefully speed up the melt around the course. Stay tuned for opening updates.”

Pretty crazy that these photos were taken just yesterday. It’s hard to be sure, but it looks there’s enough snow to reopen for skiing and riding!

I’m over summer already, but it doesn’t look like it’s even started at Kicking Horse!
