Seeing a wild platypus while ski touring is something that can only happen in a very specific part of the world. For starters, the platypus only lives on the eastern coast of Australia and Tasmania.

Secondly, Australia and Tasmania have places to go skiing, but it’s not like they’re overly abundant.

So, the odds of seeing a platypus slide by you while ski touring has to be extremely rare. Thankfully, Mark Oates was recording as one passed by him and a fellow ski tourer in Tasmania recently.
