I’m very happy to report that Goldie the golden retriever was rescued from a drainage culvert in Crested Butte, Colorado on Sunday, June 19th.

According to Newsweek, Goldie was 50-60 feet into the culvert but wouldn’t come out when called by her owner and rescuers. That’s when fireman Liam Reily climbed into the narrow culvert, and rescuers pulled him and Goldie out using a rope.

Check out the awesome video below of when Reily and Goldie emerge from the tunnel.

Did anybody else notice how Reily refused to take money from Goldie’s owner for his efforts? That’s a good dude right there.

These kind of “stories” might seem mundane in the grand scheme of things, but I think it’s important for us to talk about them. It’s a great reminder that there’s still lots of good in this world.

I hope Goldie’s owner gives her all the treats and pets in the world. I’m sure he’s happy that she’s okay.
