Clearly these are just renders and HYMER hasn’t built out the VisionVenture, but I think we just got a peek at the future of camper van conversions. Tidy little stair set leading to lofted sleeping arrangements, an integrated solar array on the pop-up, the overall use of space is exquisite. This reminds me more of a highly calculated small scale luxury yacht design rather than the charming but often times claustrophobic one-off DIY conversions you’ll see van-lifers rolling with. Whether or not HYMER could pull it off when it comes to production time is undetermined but this level of sophistication in camper vans would be a much appreciated direction for the industry to go.

Innovation meets vision

3D printing, infrared radiation reflecting paint, roof and rear terrace with BBQ station and a pneumatic sleeping roof: With the VisionVenture concept vehicle developed in cooperation with BASF on a Mercedes-Benz chassis, we are breaking new ground in terms of design, self-sufficiency and lightweight construction. It shows what modern travel can look like in 2025. The concept car combines our pioneering spirit and innovative strength with more than 20 innovative materials from BASF and provides a forward-looking answer to current and future trends in the industry.

With its integrative front design, the concept vehicle has created a new and independent motorhome category: precise contours give way to harmonious transitions between the cab and body. The power car with its original doors, the headlights and the radiator grille are retained, while the windshield has been moved forward and the A-pillar, the engine and the roof hood have been redesigned. For use away from paved roads, the concept car is equipped with all-wheel drive. The wheel arch linings and selected body parts are manufactured using the 3D printing process and are therefore rubber-like, extremely robust. Another new feature is the very resistant paintwork with the striking dark green color scheme: The temperature-regulating and energy-efficient Chromacool technology from BASF reduces the heating of the vehicle surface by 20 ° C and that of the interior by up to 4 ° C. This enables a more individual design away from classic white.

Impressively different

Multifunctional and open floor plan for demanding adventurers

Together with the designers from Studio SYN, the VisionVenture team has come up with a completely redesigned floor plan with many smart solutions that is strongly inspired by the target group’s self-construction.“The spirit of innovation has always been anchored in the HYMER DNA and the Concept Car VisionVenture is our interpretation of modern van life. An important source of inspiration for this project was the camper community, which provided us with new ideas for inspiration with its creative ideas and self-improvement. Thanks to the material expertise and the technical know-how from BASF, we were able to implement this in a very realistic study vehicle. Of the numerous innovative and extremely customer-oriented solutions, we will certainly be able to use some elements in our series vehicles in the not too distant future, ”says Christian Bauer, CEO of Hymer GmbH & Co. KG.
