America's Downhill at Aspen back in World Cup spotlight | AspenTimes.com

Austin Colbert of The Aspen Times is reporting that World Cup downhill ski racing will return to Aspen Mountain for the first time since 2017.

The weekend will feature Men’s super-G and America’s Downhill in March of 2023.

John Rigney, Aspen Skiing Co.’s senior vice president of revenue shared his excitement with The Aspen Times:

“For years and years and years, the downhill track on Aspen Mountain was a regular part of the circuit,” …“The fact that we get to bring America’s Downhill back is exciting for the racers, it’s exciting for the community, and I look back to the energy that was up and down the entire racecourse during finals. People truly love the opportunity to be alongside the racecourse during true winter conditions, watching the very best in the world rip down such an iconic track. I think it opened our eyes to how awesome it used to be.”

The move comes as the FIS aims to revamp their North American schedule to draw in more fans and viewers on television.

I’m pretty excited about this move from the FIS. Seeing the world’s best back at Aspen Mountain after a six-year hiatus will surely be an exciting event.

I might need to start making plans for March of 2023 to be there…
