Blue Mountain Resort, PA is currently selling chairs from the retired Main Street and Burma Chairlifts for a whopping $1200. The chairs are being replaced by a new highspeed six pack for next season.
“Blue Mountain Resort is excited to announce a new high-speed six-person lift coming to the mountain for the 2022-2023 Winter season! The new lift will improve connectivity between the Valley and Summit Lodge, transporting skiers and riders from bottom to top in under 5 minutes. Replacing the Main Street and Burma Chairlifts, this new six pack will accommodate 3,000 guests per hour. As we get to where we’re going, YOU can own a piece of where we’ve been! Lift chairs from the Main Street and Burma Chairlifts will go on sale beginning Monday, May 16th”
I plan to purchase a chair from a defunct ski lift someday, but $1200 seems a little bit steep, right?
With that being said, I’d pay a ridiculous amount of money for a single chair from Mad River Glen, a double from Smugglers’ Notch’s Madonna Chairlift, or one of the original Pallavicini chairs from Arapahoe Basin.
Maybe the Main Street and/or Burma lifts from Blue Mountain are that special to you. Who am I to judge!
(I’ll answer that for you. I’m nobody. I’m just a 26 year old who kind of knows how to write silly things on the internet about skiing and snowboarding…)
