125 years ago, specifically on April 16th, Colorado Parks and Wildlife was born. Well, technically, Colorado Parks and Wildlife was born in 2011 when the Division of Wildlife was merged with Colorado State Parks. However, 125 years ago, the departments precursor, the Department of Forestry, Game and Fish, was created.

Today, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is one of the best in the business, successfully reestablishing herds of different animals across the state, controlling and trapping the wild beasts that live in the Colorado wilderness, and managing 43 state parks.

To celebrate, the organization released a timeline of their history on their twitter page. They also released an in depth timeline through Colorado Outdoor Magazine, and will be releasing several stories throughout 2022 detailing the highlights of the organization’s history.
