When Amber Broadaway moved from Sugarbush Resort to become the GM of Solitude Mountain Resort last year, she brought a lot of new ideas to the Utah ski resort. The first is the proposal of a terrain park, which could debut next season. They also just recently introduced an uphill route up the Sunrise terrain area. The second addition was their first-ever pond skim last Saturday. The length and width of the pond were “measured roughly 100’ long by 30’ wide”, the temperature went between 35 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit, and it was lined with three layers of plastic. As is typically the case with these events, the usual crazy costumes, impressive skims, and wild crashes ensued. Solitude’s projected closing date is May 1st, which is unusually late for the resort. It is the same closing date as Sugarbush.
