I knew pigs were fairly intelligent and I knew pigs were fairly strong, but I didn’t know pigs would be willing to fight off a bear. This video comes out of New Milford, Connecticut, according to the New York Post. Fortunately, we have names for both of the pigs and can thus praise them properly. The white pig that first stuck the bear is named Mary, and the black pig who charges out of the shelter is named Hammy.

Both Mary and Hammy are therapy pigs, owned by Rebecca Shaw. According to the New York Post, she was surprised and happy that the pigs were able to defend themselves after seeing what happened.

“That’s when I realized that my pigs can defend themselves. I thank God, again, because it could have ended very badly.” – Rebecca Shaw
