Dropping a rope at a ski resort can be a blessing and a curse at the same exact time. On one hand, you could score fresh untouched powder with nobody around like I did at Whitefish back in January.

On the other, you could be flanked by hundreds of skiers descending the same run at the same time like in the video below…

For context, this video was recorded on a weekday last week at Snowbird. The resort had received its first decent snowfall in two months, and it seemed like all of Salt Lake City called in sick to ride powder.

The resort dropped the rope to open Mineral Basin, the same place where those two helicopters crashed last month, and hundreds of skiers descended the bowl at the same time.

It legitimately looks like that cringe-worthy Visa commercial that they played relentlessly during the Olympics. It’s hard for me to watch… 😂
