Have you guys seen the VISA commercial that’s running during the Olympics? It features, what appears to be, 37,000 skiers and snowboarders all descending one trail at the same time.

Check it out below if you haven’t seen it yet. I’ll provide my less-than-enthusiastic commentary afterwards.

Okay, now that you’ve seen it, did you also feel an overwhelming sense of anxiety? It’s posed as a happy commercial, but I felt the exact opposite.

Are we supposed to enjoy the thought of the slopes being so crowded that you can’t even make a turn without close-lining a little girl learning how to pizza?! I mean, what the hell was VISA thinking?

I’m about to sign up for every goddamn Mastercard and American Express possible if this is what VISA wants to happen to the ski industry.

However, I bet the execs over at Vail Resorts are happy as a pig in mud. Their vision for the North American ski experience has been recognized by another company, and now we’re all doomed.

I couldn’t resist…

I’m obviously kidding, but I just couldn’t get over this damn commercial. Nothing about it is pleasing for me to watch.

I’m all for equal opportunity and inclusion in skiing and snowboarding. We certainly need to provide ways for more people to have access to the moutnain.

With that being said, VISA really missed the mark on this one. Showing thousands of people descending a single slope isn’t making me feel inspired to making skiing and snowboarding more accessible…😂
