The body of a 68-year-old skier who went missing Wednesday, January 19th, was found in the Grizzly Gulch backcountry ski area at around 9:30am on January 20th. The search for the man began Wednesday after an individual who knew the skier became concerned when he hadn’t returned six hours after he originally said he would. The individual called Alta Ski Area around 9pm, who promptly notified the Unified Police Department and began a search effort with the Wasatch Backcountry Rescue. The man’s body was discovered near the resort on Thursday and recovered with the assistance of a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter. Our thoughts are with the family and friend of the deceased.
