Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, New Hampshire is aiming on making their West Basin base area the major hub for their summer operations. New England Ski Industry reports that Loon Mountain submitted a proposal to the U.S. Forest Service to add a mountain coaster right next to the Kissin’ Cousin Double chairlift. The roller coaster would feature a multi-minute, fifteen hundred foot vertical uphill track, and the downhill portion would be three thousand feet and have a three hundred and twenty-foot vertical drop. Depending on the approval time and supply chain issues, the ride could open up this summer. The mountain coaster would be the fourth in the state, the others being at Attitash, Cranmore, and Gunstock. It could also be a year-round attraction, as some resorts like Cranmore runs theirs year-round, while others only run them during summer and fall due to snow clearance and ice issues.

This follows the news that Loon plans to make the new Kanc8 lift, which is right next to Kissin’ Cousin Double, will be the primary lift for mountain biking operations next summer. Loon’s summer operations are pretty diversified already and include mountain biking, hiking, cave tours, scenic gondola rides, disc golf, climbing walls, and more.
