Howelsen Hill isn’t the biggest mountain in Steamboat Springs, but it may be the most important one. The local ski area in town, which opened in 1914, is an affordable local hub for alpine skiing, nordic skiing, ski jumpers, and other winter activities. And there are not many better deals in the industry than Ski Free Sundays, where guests don’t have to pay a cent to shred the slopes. This past Sunday saw the opening of their new triple chairlift, donated to them by VF Foundation, which owns Smartwool(which used to be based in Steamboat). The lift replaces their older double chairlift and will be open seven days a week. Consider heading over there when the crowds over at Steamboat Resort get a little crazy.
Ski Free Sunday saw the new lift turn for the first time. Hope you were able to enjoy it. The triple chairlift will operate daily this winter. https://t.co/QAqxGNnEVw
