Sunshine Village near Banff, Canada is closed today, December 2nd, due to avalanche hazards in the area. Parks Canada made the decision to close Sunshine’s access road yesterday warning that heavy snowfall has created an elevated risk for avalanches.
The resort is reporting 37″ over the last 7 days. That doesn’t seem like an excessive amount, but clearly the snowpack isn’t stable at the moment. It’s always a little ironic when a resort has to close because there’s too much snow. Such a bummer.
Hopefully the resort can get things back open tomorrow and everybody stays safe and healthy!
Stay safe out there, friends!
