It felt like summer lasted all the way through October here in the Midwest. I was literally wearing shorts and a T-shirt in 75-degree weather just two weeks ago, and it felt like I moved 700 miles south for a little while.
Thankfully, mother nature has finally decided to make it feel more seasonable in these parts, and a few ski areas are starting to make snow during the chilly nights.
We’re probably still weeks away from a ski area opening in the Midwest, but just seeing snow guns fire is a sight for sore eyes for this winter-starved ski blogger.
Check out some photos of snowmaking operations going on up at Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, WI. The ski area invested $2.5 million in their snowmaking operations over the summer, and it looks like they’re putting those new guns to use right away. Love to see it!
I know this isn’t as exciting for all of you western folks that are already sliding on natural snow, but we take what we can get here in the Midwest!
