After a major lift expansion into the West Bowl last season, Lake Louise Ski & Summer Resort is adding even more terrain, and replacing another chairlift. The new lift is named the Juniper Express, and services completely brand new terrain at the base. The lift stands as a middle learning point for beginner skiers as a next Sunnyside Learning Center. The new trails were range from beginner to intermediate. It’ll also be a great spot for experienced riders to get in their warm-up laps before getting into the thick of the gnarly terrain on the upper mountain. Snowmaking has also been added to the area.

Over in the West Bowl, which was serviced by the new Summit Quad Chairflit that was installed last season, even more terrain has been added. The resort has “continued our glading program to further enhance the West Bowl experience and allow easier egress back to the base area from all of the various glades, chutes, gullies, and bowls.” Their trail map reveals more expansions as well, as they are looking to add an Upper Juniper Chairlift from the summit of the new Juniper and expand their learning area.

Their official statement is below:

“WHAT’S NEW FOR 2021/22:

We’re looking forward to another incredible season and even more Lake Louise to love. This year we are adding new terrain, another new chairlift, new glades, and facility enhancements that continue to come to life as part of our ongoing Long Range Plan.

New chairlift & more runs!

The Juniper Express Quad, our third base area lift, will be an important addition to get you up the mountain, and on the slopes faster. Construction on the lift is well underway, with a targeted opening date of mid-January or earlier. The chair’s base will be located near the Whiskey Jack Lodge and will take guests to the junction of the Men’s Downhill, Juniper Jungle, and West Bowl egress runs. This will comfortably situate guests at the start of three new runs. We are shaping the terrain of the new runs to maximize their appeal to the learner and intermediate skiers and riders. Beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders will have a new place to continue honing their skills as they progress from the Sunnyside Learning Area before moving to the upper mountain runs.  More experienced skiers and riders might like to lap the new chair for some cruisy groomer warm-up laps.

Snowmaking infrastructure is also being installed to provide reliable early-season access to this new area for future seasons.

The new Lower Juniper runs, and the new Juniper Express Quad are exciting enhancements to the overall skiing and snowboarding experience at Lake Louise, and we can’t wait for you to experience them for yourself!

Enhancements to West Bowl

Last winter, many of you enjoyed our new Summit Quad Chair and were excited to explore the vastness of our 480 acres of new terrain in West Bowl. This fall, we have continued our glading program to further enhance the West Bowl experience and allow easier egress back to the base area from all of the various glades, chutes, gullies, and bowls.”
