Most of the elk encounter videos we see are of idiot tourists getting too close during rut season. They end up getting charged, trampled, or worse in the pursuit of close-up pictures and videos of the aggressive animals.

This time we have an Estes Park, Colorado city worker trying to empty trash cans that is cornered by a huge bull elk. Look at the size of that rack!

Thankfully this worker had the help of a bystander to scare the elk away or else this could have ended very badly! Not sure what the worker was doing proceeding the start of this video, but I imagine he didn’t intend to get so close to the elk.

I also couldn’t help but laugh that the guy used one of those community library boxes to protect himself. I doubt anybody ever thought it could literally save somebody’s life… 😆
