Deputy J. Smith who located the children

Three children were reported missing by their parents within Sam Houston National Forest on October 1st near Houston, TX. The children had been out playing, but couldn’t be located by their parents. That’s when they decided to call 911, and deputies began searching for the children in the pouring rain.

The children were eventually found off-trail in a densely wooded area by a volunteer and a deputy. The awesome moments of the children’s rescue were captured on the deputy’s bodycam below. Definitely a feel-good story!

““MCTXSheriff is happy to report the three missing children have been located and reunited with their families. We are also pleased to report the children were checked by Montgomery County EMS personnel who confirmed they were not injured. We would like to thank the tireless efforts of those who helped with this search, including the many First Responders and the civilian volunteers of the Montgomery County Search and Rescue team.”

These kids were probably just out having a great time playing in the woods (as all kids do), and accidentally got lost. It was great to see that the first responders were so kind and caring to the children. Kids should be allowed to be kids, and I’m glad that nobody reprimanded them or made them feel bad.
