In 2021, it is fair to think all of our winter recreational needs have been met. We have skis, snowboards fat bikes, snowmobiles, snow bikes…the list goes on. Every so often, we spot a new product that we need to try. Enter the MoonBike.
A MoonBike is a snow bike with tracks and an electric motor. It has a ski on the front paired with a suspension fork. The rear is a compact track like you would find on a snowmobile. The drive track is powered by an electric motor that is totally silent.
According to MoonBikes, these tracked snow bikes only weigh 191.5-pounds (with battery installed) a fraction of the weight of a snowmobile. Moonbikes have a 1.5-hour battery life in eco mode and are totally silent. These bikes can shred in powder up to 12-inches deep and have a top speed of 26 miles per hour. A heated battery casing allows this puppy to function in temperatures down to -13 degrees Fahrenheit.
The French company designed these bikes as a mode of transportation and as a recreational item. Whatever the intended purpose, they look like a lot of fun.
