Hunter Mountain, NY announced today that they will not hold their annual Oktoberfest celebrations. They didn’t list a specific reason for the cancellation, but some in the comments are speculating it’s related to Vail Resorts budget cuts, and others think it could be a COVID-related decision.

Either way, the Hunter Mountain faithful are unhappy. Just read the comments on the post. You’ll see what I mean.

I will say it’s a little questionable if Hunter had to make a ‘difficult decision’ to cancel Oktoberfest due to COVID-19 concerns considering the event is held outside. I’m guessing it’s either to do with staffing shortages, or just some classic Vail corporate overlord budget cuts.

Hey, at least Snowbird is still hosting their Oktoberfest. It’s nowhere near Hunter, but still worth noting. 🤷‍♀️
