Whistler Blackcomb was ordered by the Province of British Columbia to close until at least April 19th due to a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases.
Instead of holding out until April 19th, Whistler Blackcomb has decided to close up shop for the remainder of the season, and begin to prepare for summer operations.
WHISTLER BLACKCOMB IS CLOSED FOR WINTER 2020-21
Out of respect for yesterday’s announcement from the Provincial Health Officer to close Whistler Blackcomb, the resort will shut its winter operation for the remainder of the season. Our focus will now shift to preparing for summer. pic.twitter.com/JSp3Kh0tuq— Whistler Blackcomb (@WhistlerBlckcmb) March 30, 2021
What a bummer.
We almost made it through the entire season without a significant resort closure in North America due to COVID-19.
Here’s to hoping for a more normal season next year.
