“I thought I had it till realized I didn’t but it was too late full impact!”

35 year old Pagosa Springs, Colorado backcountry skillz trainerJames Gallegos considers himself lucky he only suffered a fractured hip socket after this brutal impact into a tree stump on the Continental Divide. Its a good thing that stump was rotten or this could have been wayyyyy worse:

“I ain’t pretty but it happened I’m fine lots of bruises and bumps. Fractured my hip socket! Luckily I had a great team there to help me out! Very cool drop but had lots of little trees in the path I had to stomp over and make a path. Coming into it it was a right hand side hill and I had to thread the needle my left ski caught just a tad on the takeoff and it pulled me down I thought I had it till realized I didn’t but it was too late full impact! Thanks to my protective gear I wear every ride sure saved me from more broken parts.”
