Interested in obtaining some sweet gear for a good cause?

The Payette Avalanche Center is an avalanche forecasting organization that provides essential information for backcountry enthusiasts in Idaho’s West Central Mountains.

The PAC normally hosts a large party in February to raise money, but was forced to change their fundraising approach due to COVID-19.

Take a look at the best gear, experiences, and prizes that are available for auction in support of the Payette Avalanche Center.

The Friends of the Payette Avalanche Center are the non-profit, 501 (c)(3), support system for the Payette Avalanche Forecast Center located in McCall, Idaho.  Over the last couple of years, the Friends has taken an increasing role in supporting the Forecast Center.

In past years the Friends have languished, but due to enthusiasm of our President, Brian Peters, the Friends have been reformulated with a new Board of Directors and are back in a supporting role for the Forecast Center.  Our recent accomplishments include:

  • Teaching low-cost avalanche awareness classes in partnership with our local resorts Brundage and Tamarack.
  • Purchasing and installing a beacon park at the Little Ski Hill which is part of the local non-profit Payette Lakes Ski Club.
  • Purchasing and installing “Are You Beeping” beacon testing stations at ski resort backcountry access gates and snowmobile trailheads.
  • Providing funding for an additional day of avalanche forecasting per week.
