An unnamed person has finally found Fenn’s treasure. According to Fenn, the treasure chest was located just a few days ago, but Fenn will not say where the chest of rare objects was hidden.

Fenn, 89, said he wanted the treasure hunt to tempt people to get into the wilderness and give them a chance to launch an old-fashioned adventure and expedition for riches.

The eccentric millionaire, Forrest Fenn, had buried the treasure chest full of gold nuggets, rare coins, jewelry and gemstones somewhere in the Rocky Mountains over a decade ago. In the time since, treasure hunters from all over the world have descended on the Rockies looking for the hidden treasure.

Hunters used a 24-line poem that was published in his 2010 autobiography “The Thrill of the Chase” as well as a  Goonies style map with clues to locate the treasure.

“The guy who found it does not want his name mentioned. He’s from back East,” Fenn told the Santa Fe New Mexican adding that it was confirmed.

This news will mark the sad end of the story for many who quit their jobs to dedicate themselves to the search and others who spent every penny they had searching for it. At least four people died while on the hunt for the treasure.

Fenn told The New Mexican in 2017 that the chest weighs 20 pounds and its contents weigh another 22 pounds. He said he delivered the chest to its hiding place by himself over two separate trips.
