“I was walking down the street when this bear appeared from behind a tree and headed towards me. I stood still as there was nowhere I could run at that moment, but the bear still jumped on me and bit me. I could barely stand up. There was a taxi driver nearby who started beeping his horn and he switched on the lights so the bear ran away. I ran to the driver and he took me to the nearest hospital.” –Evgeny Zolotov

Gnarly footage out of Russia where a brown bear attack was caught on surveillance camera. The Mirror reports 26-year-old Evgeny Zolotov was walking through a parking lot Monday night in the Russian city Yaroslavl (250 miles northeast of Moscow) when a bear came out of nowhere and attacked him.

Thankfully a nearby taxi witnessed the attack and scared the bear away by honking and turning on its headlights. The bear ran off and made a clean getaway to the woods. Zolotov suffered non-life threatening injuries including bite wounds to his thigh and scratches.

YarNews reports local wildlife experts deemed the bear a threat and it was eventually put down by rangers. Samples were taken from the animal to test for rabies which could possibly explain the uncharacteristic attack. The bear was three years old and weighed 176lbs.
