I really enjoyed this feature-length documentary about avalanche prediction and snow safety in the Alps. The Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) in Davos is the world’s largest center dedicated to forecasting winter safety conditions in the mountains and this delve into its operations is fascinating.
The documentary takes viewers to Switzerland, Austria, France and Germany in the winter to meet scientists who have dedicated their lives to the study of avalanches and snow using the latest techniques including triggering large scale slides on SLF’s test site. Infotainment for all us snow geeks:
