Tragic news out of Engelberg, Switzerland as one person was killed and six others injured in an accident at Engelberg Titlis ski resort.  Reuters UK reports the accident happened during a routine inspection of an out-of-service ski lift.

The workers were struck by cables when a temporary brace that was attached to the main cable of a gondola failed. No gondolas were attached at the time of the failure. The man who was killed had been working for the mountain railway company for over 20 years.

Police said investigators from the Forensic Institute of Zurich are examining the cause of the incident. We will update when the cause is determined. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
