“We had an isothermal avalanche occur on the area called Putnam Creek, also referred to as SilverStar’s backside. One male was involved in the incident and was transported to hospital by B.C. Air Ambulance.” Ian Jenkins

A man injured in an inbounds avalanche at SilverStar Ski Resort in BC Canada was airlifted to hospital today. News 1130 reports the 42 year old man was caught in an avalanche on a double black diamond run just after noon. No additional information has been released on the man’s identity or condition.

SilverStar is currently closed but their director of sales and marketing Ian Jenkins says they might re-open tomorrow. A recent rise in temperatures has increased avalanche danger in the area. Avalanche Canada issued a special public warning for backcountry skiers in much of British Columbia and Alberta on Monday that remains in place.

We will update this story as the news comes in. Are thoughts are with the injured man.
