“If she had not had a helmet on this would have been a completely different story.”

Terrifying situation over the weekend at Park City Mountain Resort after an 8 year old girl suffered a seizure while riding chairlift and fell 30-40 feet onto hardpack snow as her mother watched helplessly from the lift unable to get to her daughter:

“Horrific is not even a strong enough word to describe it.” Saylor’s Mom Cydney Reeve

At first witnesses say she laid completely still and wasn’t breathing:

“After a couple of seconds she started moaning and making sounds, that was probably because of the pain.” Ben Yucceer

FOX13 reports ski patrol responded immediately loading Saylor onto a sled, rushing her to the base to be loaded onto a helicopter for transport to a hospital. Thankfully Saylor was wearing helmet which showed a major dent in the foam layer where her skis impacted it:

“If she had not had a helmet on this would have been a completely different story.” -Cydney Reeve

Saylor is recovering in the hospital with a long list of injuries including a compression fracture in her spine. Saylor is expected to make a full recovery and will hopefully be able to go home soon.

“She’ll be back out there no doubt.” Saylor’s Dad Mike Reeve

We are beyond thankful Saylor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and cannot recommend highly enough at all parents outfit their kids with helmets on the mountain. Best wishes to Saylor as she heals up.
