“The search continued all night and was halted this morning. It will resume if the situation requires. No disappearance has been signaled.”

The search and rescue effort has been called off at Crans-Montana in Switzerland and a French ski patroller is confirmed dead from the massive inbounds avalanche.

“The person who was seriously injured died during the night in Sion hospital. He was a French ski patroller aged 34.”

The CBC reports the avalanche struck yesterday at about 2:20pm local time. 240 rescuers and a dozen rescued dogs continued to search the 1300ft avalanche debris field overnight after eye witnesses said that other people may be buried. No additional victims were found.
