The BBC is reporting at least four people have been injured, one seriously, and search efforts continued into the night for buried skiers after a massive inbounds avalanche slammed a slope in Crans-Montana at about 2:20pm local time.
“Rescuers arrived very quickly, they rescued four injured people, including one whose life is in danger, and three were injured more superficially. Witnesses have said that other people may be buried, and the search continues with considerable resources.” Police Commander Christian VaroneÂ
240 rescuers are continuing to search 1300ft avalanche debris field overnight. Police would not provide estimates of how many people might be trapped under the snow. We will update as the news comes in.
