Great reminder to always secure your skis and snowboards in a safe place when they’re not on your feet because you never know if there’s an opportunistic thief lurking in the midst.  The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested two youths and recovered approximately $17,000 in stolen skis and snowboards which are believed to have been stolen from Fernie Alpine Resort on January 19th.

Three snowboards and 10 pairs of skis and numerous ski poles were recovered in a joint operation between Elk Valley RCMP and Strathmore RCMP in Alberta. The two youths in question reportedly posted these items for sale on Kijiji.com (a fully owned subsidiary of eBay).

The investigation is ongoing as some of the skis and snowboards reported stolen by Fernie have not been recovered. If you know anything about this incident, or have any information to report, please call the Strathmore RCMP Detachment @ 403-934-3535.
