An avalanche incident from 2009 has finally been resolved with 3 skiers getting convicted of apparent negligence reports The Local. That negligence resulted in the skiers triggering a slide that would injure 2 others who were below the avalanche at the time.

The avalanche, which occurred in Valais of Anzère, resulted in a massive search and rescue response but luckily no victims were found buried and only the two others sustained injuries.

In the Swiss high court’s final decision, the judge said those responsible for the slide did not use their own avalanche education nor the avalanche bulletin to make the right terrain choice. The group ultimately crossed a slope and triggered the slide in question. The court went on to say that the group should not have travelled in the particular area, where an avalanche event was likely on that particular day.
