“There’s a lot of sketchy people living in their vans because they’re broke and they do drugs but there’s also a lot of people living in their vans because they want to live outside the box.”
When it comes to van life it doesn’t get anymore classic than VW Bus. A model this old might not be the most practical choose but the charm of touring the West Coast in an old school Westfalia might outweigh the challenges for the right adventurer. Also like the dual-sport motorcycle in tow for economical travel once you have your basecamp set up. Best of luck to James Barkman as he builds his portfolio and stays wild.
*Since this video was published James sold the Westfalia
…and opted for a much more streamline approach.
Really inspiring if you are into this kind of thing. Keep it up James!

Back to #thepanamericantrail. This was taken in the Yukon Territory, stopping for one of the countless bear sightings along the way. Always a welcomed excuse to take a break from hard riding and see how close we could get. The leather panniers and tank bags were designed by my team and I and built by my startup company @welshmtn. We decided to design our own luggage due to being dissatisfied with the price and quality of a lot of moto luggage that's out there, and they've already proved themselves more than capable in everything from snowstorms, to wrecks, to hours of rain at 70mph. 😬
