In a place where pretty much anything goes. From wingsuiting to extreme skiing, Chamonix’s mindblowing backdrop and sheer vertical relief serve as the backdrop for the most expansive, tough, and beautifully breathtaking trail race in the Europe.

“After the publication of Kilian Jornet’s summer programme and the confirmation of his participation in the 2017 UTMB®, his presence completes a line-up of elite runners never before seen!” – Bruno Poirier, Trail Endurance Magazine

Scheduled for the last weekend in August, this year’s UTMB® is set to be a scorcher. And if the heat and length weren’t enough, the course gains approximately 32,808 vertical feet. That’s almost twice the vert it takes to ascend the world’s tallest mountain– Everest.

This year will host some of the world’s most elite runners highlighted obviously by the participation of Kilian Jornet. In the past year, Jornet has scaled Everest in record time in addition to skiing his ass off from Norway to Chamonix. We’ll see if all that ski-mo helps him win the race for what could be a record, fourth time.

UTMB Details:

  • 171km (106.2 miles)
  • 10,000m vertical gain (32,808′)
  • 2,300 runners
  • 46:30 cutoff time
