After winning her 3rd gold in the Slalom at the FIS World Championships in St. Moritz, the 21 year-old is now on pace to win the overall FIS title and possibly more important– Shiffrin is now the first skier to ever repeat a 3-peat in the slalom during the modern FIS era.
This time, Mikaeala got a full 1.64 second edge over the Swiss skier, Wendy Holdener to capture the gold medal in the slalom. It was her second medal at this year’s world championships with the other coming in the form of silver in Giant Slalom, The last person to complete a similar feat was when Christel Cranz won three slalom champs in a row in the late 1930’s.
