6 climbers are still missing after an avalanche triggered on Tuesday in the Huarascan mountains outside Peru’s northeastern city of Huaraz.  The area popular with for foreign climbers was experiencing inclement weather at the time of the slide, this according to gazetaweb.globo.com.
A rescue team arrived on scene three hours after the slide and transferred the  three climbers they found (1 Peruvian, 2 Spaniards) to hospital, who are in stable conditions experiencing only minor injury. They were found just over 19.000 feet of elevation.
The search continued Wednesday under difficult weather conditions for the remain 6 climbers (3 Mexicans, 3 Peruvians). Our thoughts and prayers for the climbers who have not been found. We will update this situation as information comes in.
