In Costa Rica, Winter Olympians are as rare as snow– that is– virtually non-existent.

But that’s not stopping Boulder resident, Andre Hamm from ending a decade long streak that has seen Costa Rica unrepresented during the Winter Olympics. Hamm, who skis slopestyle, is hoping to compete for the tropical country during the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics thanks to dual citizenship he obtained through his mother.
Cross-country skier Arturo Kinch was Costa Rica’s last winter olympian. He competed during the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.
