According to a recent report by Skiing Magazine, Red Lodge Mountain in Southern Montana will close early after the ski area missed out on a series of storms that blanketed Wyoming, Idaho, and Colorado over the past week.

Although productive early snowmaking efforts allowed the resort to continue operations through March, resort officials just announced that they will be closing Sunday March, 27. Much to the chagrin of Red Lodge locals, warm temperatures and a lack of snowfall since early February has left the ski area melting away without any ability to make new snow.

In an interview with Skiing Magazine, Red Lodge Mountain’s Jeff Carroll had this to say about the early closing.

“The premature end of the season is a disappointment to the staff, but the closing weekend will be full of activities. On Saturday, the mountain will host the annual Mini Monster Rail Jam, as well as Silver Run’s White Stag Race. Easter Sunday will include a sunrise service, breakfast, and egg hunts for both children and adults.”– Jeff Carroll.
