After a two days, the search for missing skier, Stephen Jones is over. Jones was originally reported missing on Sunday evening after failing return from skiing in the vicinity of the Park City Mountain Resort area.  In a tweet from Summit County Sheriff, Justin Martinez indicated that Jones’ body was found by search and rescue personnel with the help of ski patrol this afternoon. The 50 year-old skier was buried under 3 feet of snow and killed by the avalanche.

According to KSL.com, the skier from Wanship was skiing off the back of the Canyons ski area in a zone called Shale Shot when the avalanche struck. The avalanche was measured at 60 feet wide and ran for approximately 500 feet. Jones was equipped with avalanche equipment and a remaining signal from his beacon alerted authorities to his whereabouts.

*Our deepest condolences go out to Jones’ friends and family.
