20 year-old snowboarder Julie Abrahamsen is lucky to be alive after spending three days lost in the Whistler/Blackcomb backcountry. Abrahamsen, who was snowboarding on her own, went missing Wednesday from Whistler ski resort.
The young worman, who was visiting from Norway, was reported missing by her roommate on Friday after she failed to returned home.
Search and Rescue began searching for Abrahamsen on Friday. Luckily a crew of rescue workers in a helicopter discovered her tracks Saturday afternoon in the Blackcomb backcountry. The tracks eventually led to Abrahamsen who was found on Wedge Mountain, a few miles from resort the boundary. Reports are that she was in good spirits and had sustained no serious injuries.
Officials said that had she continued on her path, she would have made it to the main road in about two days.
