Light to moderate snow will be falling near the front range of Denver today with 2-5 inches possible in favored upslope areas. Berthoud Pass picked up 12 plus inches yesterday and should grab a light freshening late today and tonight. I can testify that Vail was deep yesterday with even deeper reports at Winter Park and Breckenridge. Some crust was evident on south facing aspects, Look for a light freshening with highest east of the divide. Monarch might nab 3-7 inches by Thursday morning. The Front range south if Denver will be favored. Keep an eye on Eldora,
The big new is a significant storm that will favor eastern and central New Mexico through Thursday night. Moderate snow will be falling around Sandia Peak and Angel Fire (7-9) with the highest amounts in the eastern ranges. Taos will see lower amounts. Epic alert may need to be issued for Ski Apache in southern New Mexico where 12-16 inches is likely (North Americas most southern resort). Snow will be falling well into Texas!
The long range shows very little in the range of heavy snow in the next 8 days. Warmer temps move back into the Cascades late week with rain likely at lower elevations. Let’s hope for a pattern change. We still have nearly 4 months left of forecasts! My motto is that it is always snowing somewhere,
