Sugar Bowl opens today on the heels of a large winter storm that dropped 22 inches of new snow on the Tahoe area resort. All and all the massive winter storm that was supposed to blast the Lake Tahoe region packed less of a punch than many thought it would. Ski areas on the West side of the basin faired the best with 12-16 inches being reported. Ski areas on the East side of the Tahoe Basin faired much worse with only 3-5 inches being reported.
Truckee has been stoked with rain with Tahoe City only seeing a light dusting of snow.
