It is being reported that local rescue services in the Murmansk region of Russia were informed around midnight Saturday that a massive avalanche at Mount Aikuaivenchor had buried a group of six tourists.
The emergencies ministry released a statement today saying, “The avalanche buried a tourist group of six people. Search and rescue effort is underway.”
The nationalities of the tourists has not been released.
The emergencies ministry earlier issued an avalanche alert, warning about a “significant” probability of avalanches in the Khibiny mountains.
