A couple of very cool locals showed us around today. We did a lot of hiking, skied some sexy pillows, and learned a lot about Revelstoke the mountain and Revelstoke the town. The fresh snow to human being ratio in bounds is very high right now.
REVELSTOKE CONDITIONS TODAY:
– At opening bell there were 4 new centimeters of snow overnight
– It snowed 11 more centimeters throughout the day
– Strong SW winds were ripping on the top of the mountain and blowing snow into the North Bowl
– Untouched stashes and pillows were up to a foot deep (30cms) deep in blown in spots in the North Bowl
– The front side of the mountain was chopped up pow and powder moguls with about 5cms of fresh snow on top towards the end of the day
– It snowed all day and progressively snowed harder with solid, steady moderate snowfall at closing time
– Tomorrow morning is going to be good…
WHERE THE SKIING WAS BEST TODAY:
– North Bowl was blown in with dry, smokey, responsive powder
– Gracias Ridge tenia lugares con almohadas bien fondos y divertidos
– Devil’s Club trees all the way down to the mid-station of the gondola on the front side had endless, soft powder moguls
CROWD FACTOR:
– There were no lines and few people out today
– At times the line on the hike out to was pretty full, but it spreads out quick once they reach North Bowl (see pic)
– Again, there just aren’t enough people here to track this place out
– The locals here are crazy friendly, cool, fun, and strong skiers (5K+ vertical foot runs thru complex terrain will do that to you)
OVERALL:
– Today was even better than yesterday with a bit more snow, improving conditions throughout the day, and some local knowledge
– Foot deep zones and stupid fun pillow lines were the highlights
– Long 5,000 foot runs through pow moguls create happiness
