It’s no secret that Mt. Baker has been going off. This quote makes it even more clear:
“Mt. Baker now has the MOST SNOW OF ANY SKI AREA, NOT ONLY IN NORTH AMERICA, BUT IN THE WORLD!”
A 105” base on December 8th will give you the confidence to throw around statements like that.
MT BAKER STATS:
– 105” base at Heather Meadows
– Deepest base at any Earthling ski resort
– 160” this season
– 80” in 7 days ending December 6th
On Saturday, Baker was a bit foggy and overcast with some low vis & some better vis moments. The Shuksan Arm was holding an impressive amount of snow and looked like it would have skied like a dream. We dug a pit and results showed strong enough instability in the snowpack to keep us off the Arm. We skied some lower angle pow and it was deep. Armpit deep without skis on in spots.

Avalanche conditions were reported yesterday by the North Cascade Avalanche Center as Considerable. Today, they are Considerable once again.
Gunnar’s was closed yesterday but will likely be open today and it looked deep and fun.
Baker is in. The Shuksan Arm is in. Mt. Herman is in. It’s game on at Baker right now and it likely won’t be off until June.
