A Florida developer is pitching the idea of the first ski facility for the Sunshine State. The proposal is to build an enclosed snow venue on the edge of the Everglades west of Fort Lauderdale featuring runs up to a half mile long. The complex, estimated at $300 Million, would also include electric snowmobiling, high performance go-carts, laser tag, paintball, a massive hotel as well as the largest indoor skate park in the US.

Indoor snow domes have been popular for years in Europe and the Middle East but have yet to arrive in the new world. Snow dome projects have been proposed for New Jersey, Las Vegas, Georgia and Connecticut  but the economic downturn in late 2008 have put them all on ice.
