The Snurfer, snowboarding’s long lost cousin, dates back to the late 1960s. While the snurfer wasn’t quite “all the rage” back then, Snurfing did have enough of a following to host an annual “World Snurfing Classic” organized by the National Snurfers Association. Apparently, all one had to do to be part of the National Snurfers Association was own a Snurfer (and maybe a pair of jeans to shred in).

This video, presumably shot at the World Snurfing Classic, shows some hard core snurfing action. It’s hard to tell what exactly the contest consisted of, so we’ll just assume that the object was to stay on the snurfer the longest. Snowboarding sure has come a long way.
